Origin
Chlorella needs stagnant water and therefore occurs naturally in freshwater lakes. It grows particularly well at temperatures above 25 °C, e.g. in Central America, Southeast Asia, Africa and Australia.
Appearance
Chlorella is a microalgae, but compared to spirulina and AFA algae, biologically it is a plant and not a bacterium. It performs photosynthesis and is therefore coloured green by chlorophyll.
Production
Chlorella has been cultivated worldwide for over 100 years. Initially for scientific purposes, later in tanks or tube systems to produce specific food supplements.
